In conversation with Norman Kaplan

Join us for a live online conversation with South African artist Norman Kaplan.

This event accompanies All Shall Be Afforded Dignity! at Thin Ice Press, co-produced by the Anti-Apartheid Legacy Centre, Action for Southern Africa (ACTSA), and the Anti-Apartheid Movement Archives.

The exhibition brings together a selection of Kaplan’s prints and linocuts, which speak to what life was like during apartheid and trace South Africa’s journey toward democracy. Named after his 1996 award-winning linocut, it explores themes of dignity, democracy, and the enduring human spirit.

In conversation with Thin Ice Press Director, Helen Smith, Kaplan will reflect on his printmaking practice, process and influences discussing works including The Waiting Room - an evocative print on life in post-apartheid South Africa - alongside his work designing and producing materials for underground ANC and South African Communist Party publications.

Date: Wednesday 22nd April
Time: 6-7.30 pm
Format: Online via Zoom

Please book via Eventbrite and join promptly at 6pm. Details for joining the Zoom call will be included in your booking confirmation and reminder email from Eventbrite.
