Colour & Light
Printed for a York festival featuring public workshops and light projections on historic buildings. This edition of 50 prints explores transparency and the colours created through overprinting.
Frost Fair
The name 'Thin Ice Press' is a tribute to York’s own Thomas Gent, an 18th-century printer who famously operated a makeshift press on the frozen River Ouse in 1739. This linocut is inspired by a woodcut in a private collection.
As You Like It
Duke Senior's opening lines from Act II, Scene I of As You Like It by William Shakespeare. Linocut by Izzy Williamson, printed alongside handset metal type.
The Life of Thomas Gent
This linocut, copied from 1761 woodcut, shows Thomas Gent’s printing house in York’s Coffee Yard. The verse is taken from The Life of Mr, Thomas Gent, printer, of York (1746).
An Imagined Conversation
