‘Perhaps’ by Rommi Smith

We are proud to have collaborated with Harewood House and Rommi Smith to print her poem ‘Perhaps’, on display as part of the Austen & Turner: A Country House Encounter exhibition (May to October 2025) that celebrates the 250th anniversaries of the painter JMW Turner and novelist Jane Austen.

Rommi Smith is an award-winning poet, playwright, performer, librettist, curator and broadcaster, who specialises in the imaginative critical and creative (re)interpretation of archival materials. Her poem ‘Perhaps’ is a contrapuntal sonnet, imagining a conversation between Austen and Turner on craft, power, language, and the sea—each exploring its role in their work. The design lets you separate their voices to reveal distinct perspectives; laid flat, their conversation comes into focus.
