Past, Present and Future: Printing in York

Celebrate the launch of our printing trail of York and join us for a talk about the City’s distinctive history of print.

Join Helen Smith, Director of Thin Ice Press: the York Centre for Print, to learn about Europe's earliest wallpaper, how a book can be a magpie, entrepreneurial widows, printing on ice, type made of Viking wood and much more.

As well as learning about York's first 500 years of printing and bookselling, and finding out about the City's lively current printing and printmaking scene, discover how Helen and her colleagues are planning to make old-fashioned print endure for another half millennium.

£5. Tickets include a drink upon arrival and a copy of our new self-guided printing tour of York. Please book by the link below and arrive five minutes before the start of the talk.
