Michelle Hughes is a printmaker and illustrator based in York. She creates original, limited-edition linocut prints inspired by the British countryside and wildlife. Each design is created using the multi-block linocut method. She uses oil-based inks and an etching press to handprint each of the editions. Michelle has a background in surface pattern design, homeware and fashion. She teaches both beginners and more experienced printmakers through studio workshops and online courses. She has recently written her first book, Printing Birds and Wildlife in Linocut, about how to make linocut prints.

This event is presented as part of the Festival of Ideas.
