Discover the past, present and future of traditional printing at Thin Ice Press: the York Centre for Print. Nestled in the tranquil St Anthony’s Garden, just opposite The Dispensary and overlooked by the City walls, this pressroom, museum and gallery brings together traditional printing and a community working to ensure an endangered craft and skills thrive for centuries to come.

During York Ghost Week, a new series of fine press posters, designed and printed at Thin Ice Press, will be exclusively available from their gallery. Drawing inspiration from York’s history of hauntings and its 500-year tradition of printing, the series brings together traditional techniques, the distinctive visual character of the York Ghosts, and contemporary printmaking. Twenty-five of three design, from editions of 225, will be released each day during York Ghost Week.

Visitors are warmly invited to visit during opening hours to explore the gallery, pressroom and learn more about York’s remarkable printing heritage. Opening hours: Monday to Wednesday & Friday to Sunday 10.00–17.00; Thursday 13.00–20.00.
