Pressure printing - a bit like monoprint, a bit like collograph, but with a twist! An ‘indirect’ printing process, pressure printing uses low relief, often flexible printing plates to create textural and tonal prints.

In this workshop, you'll get hands-on with this process and other indirect mark making and printing methods to create a range of prints to take away, using our SP15 cylinder presses. The workshop is led by Thin Ice Press technician Mike Ainsworth (North or Nowt), who will provide support and guidance throughout the workshop.

We will provide materials including adhesive tapes, paper and stickers to construct pressure printing plates, and if you wish to bring any of your own materials to work with also you may. These should be thin, flexible and of low relief (quite thin). Cut stencils, stickers and textured papers and tapes can produce dramatically different results. Please check with Mike if materials are suitable on the day before attempting to print with them.
