Bookbinding: Slipcases

Create a slipcase for a book: an elegant case that displays the spine and protects the book from dust and sun damage.

Bring along a book you’d like to house, and we’ll guide you through measuring, cutting, and assembling a custom, cloth-covered slipcase. You’ll leave with a finished case and a clear, step-by-step understanding of the process which you can use to make slipcases for other books at home.

This workshop is suitable for anyone who has some experience with bookbinding, such as those who have attended our single or multi-section binding workshops.

All equipment and materials will be provided. Essential tools and materials will also be available to purchase before or after the workshop.

This workshop forms part of a three-workshop series, alongside Single Section Binding with Soft and Hard Covers on Saturday 29 August and Multi-Section Binding with Hard Covers on Saturday 19 September.

You can purchase Single Section Binding individually for £140 (lunch included), or book the complete programme for £395, including your very own Thin Ice Press apron.
