Join Thin Ice Press and our friends Imai san, Chihiro san and Paul Denhoed from the celebrated Oguni washi workshop in Niigata prefecture, Japan for a unique event celebrating washi (Japanese handmade paper).
With expert guidance from the Oguni washi team, you can try your hand at Japanese paper cutting (or ask Chihiro san to cut something for you!) and create your own sheet of Japanese handmade paper. This is a drop-in workshop, so please join us at any point between 14.30 and 16.30 to learn more about the history and practice of washi paper making, and create your own sheet.
All materials will be provided. No experience is needed, and all ages are welcome. The sheets will need time to dry, and you can choose to come back and collect them when they're dry, or to pay for postage.
Any questions, please email thinicepress@york.ac.uk.
